Although the Suns have signaled they intend to run things back rather than make any big splashes, many view the top priority for the Suns entering this offseason to be attaining a co-star to fit next to Devin Booker, and with limited assets, one they can buy-low on, too.
At the top of the list in that category is Ja Morant, who is expected to be traded for an all-time low price this offseason. Even given the low price, it sounds like the Suns still aren't interested, according to multiple NBA insiders.
First mentioned by local media member Gerald Bourguet, the report of the Suns having no interest in Morant was then corroborated by NBA insider Brett Siegel:
Sources: Amid rumors surrounding a Ja Morant trade, the Suns will not entertain the idea of trading for the Grizzlies' guard.

From the off-court issues to the injury history, Ja Morant has plenty of red flags, and paired with the over-$87M remaining over the next two years of his contract, it's completely understandable for the Suns to have no interest in him.
Remaining options for Suns to attain a new star
That being said, there's still a need for a second star in Phoenix, and the options are slim given the Suns' lack of tradable assets.
There are a few different routes the Suns can go for a co-star. It can be a point guard, creating a Chris Paul-esque pairing with Devin Booker again. It could even be a wing or big, helping fill the hole for size on the roster.
In any potential trade for a star, the Suns will need to take a risk. The Suns have put themselves in a position where any star trade target will have red flags attached.
That considered, given the Suns' price range, there are plenty of potential buy-low options out there, like Trae Young, who was recently acquired midseason by Washington in a salary-matching deal with Atlanta, or Zion Williamson, who may finally be dealt by the rebuilding Pelicans.
With now being the time for the Suns to contend, the Suns will need to search unorthodox avenues to provide Devin Booker with the co-star he needs.
